About me
Pilar Maturana was born in Santiago, Chile. Since she was young, she has felt a special affinity for nature and the artistic world, which led her to study a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Arts at the University of Chile. There, she had her first approach to sculpture and ceramics. After graduating, she dedicated herself to working in art-related fields.
Between 2005 and 2010, she specialized in Design and Landscaping at the Catholic University of Chile. She then worked as an independent landscape designer, focusing on garden design and construction. This connection with nature inspired her to rediscover her interest in ceramics.
Nature has been a constant source of inspiration in her work, particularly plants and their parts, from the micro to the macro level. She is interested in the small pieces that share common patterns and come together to form a complete organism, attempting to metaphorically represent the inner world of individuals.
She has participated in multiple group exhibitions, including “Revelations” at the Grand Palais in Paris. Currently, she is about to start her Solo Exhibition at La Sala Gallery.
Since 2012, she has been a member artist of the Huara Huara Workshop, led by Ruth Krauskopf, dedicated entirely to sculpture and ceramics in their own workshop, providing ceramics classes to students.
